I'm going to Paris in a month. I would like to know what adapter people have had good experiences with since this is completely new territory to me. I would be charging my laptop and a digital slr camera.
go to any stores like the source or best buy or other similar stores and ask them what they would recommend based on where you are travelling and what items you plan to plug in. I went to the source when I went to France and they sold me a plug adapter that would work in europeYou can buy it when you arrive in Paris from any local convenient store or just borrow from your hotel reception desk. No problem!Most of modern electronics use dual voltage/dual frequency adapters... There is a big possibility that both your gadgets might work on European grid. If you take small plastic adapter (on your power supply cable) where S/N is located, there should say something like:
100-240V, 50-60Hz
then you're set. If it's just 110V and 60Hz then you really need power adapter. In case it is dual, then you only need adapter plug (something like this:

You can also buy great quality for I think $ 20 aboard any planes flying overseas as part of duty-free-shopping.
If you do need power converter, 110 to 220V this is pretty good one, works both way - downgrading/upgrading voltage. Note that frequency doesn't change but small appliance shouldn't feel different freq.

Done and done, my man. I've had power-charged devices for 3 years, and have found all kinds of goodies. The exact chargers that George is talking about have been around well longer than that.After trying the offerings from a handful of vendors, I highly recommend Boxwave. I can charge both a music player and a phone from a power adapter the size of a 50-cent piece. If you're old enough to remember those...which means you're probably old enough not to say "fitty" every time you pronounce 50.
